About Us
Bambeso started from a simple frustration I had with how much plastic is used in everyday kitchens and lunch routines. After my mother purchased a plastic chopping board five years ago, we quickly noticed fine plastic pieces coming off the chopping board when we used it (potentially going into our food). I was frustrated with the potential harm it was doing to me and the environment. So, I took things into my own hands to resolve. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see my first ever sustainable kitchen item switch (handmade wooden chopping board).
Plastic containers, wraps, straws, and chopping boards are everywhere. After doing further research on these products in my later years of university, I found that over time, concerns around microplastics, chemical leaching, short product lifespans, and the amount of plastic waste ending up in landfill became very difficult to ignore. I wanted better options to resolve this issue.
From this, Bambeso was created to make it easier to move away from plastic and towards sustainable and reusable food storage/lunchware that people can keep using for years to come.
Our products are chosen particularly focusing on food storage and lunchware, that are made from materials designed to last and be reused again and again, like glass, stainless steel, and wood.
The name Bambeso reflects what we stand for.
“Bam” comes from bamboo, a natural and fast-growing material, representing sustainability and renewal.
“Beso” translates to 'kiss' in Spanish and represents care and intention.
Together, Bambeso means a kiss from nature, which is our slogan.
Bambeso is for people who want to be more mindful about the products they use in their daily lives. We really want to create a place where customers who share these similar values can find eco-friendly food storage and lunchware which fits naturally into their routine, whether it be at home, work, or on the go.
See below one of my original changes we made in our kitchen 5 years ago (when I was 18 years old), where I handcrafted chopping boards using left over wood from my dad's job site. Also, see below a little video of me making a sandwich on it (still gets use 5 years later!).
Thank you very much for supporting a more sustainable way forward, one simple choice at a time!
